MacBook

My first Green Wire review was for Mac OS X Leopard. That was back when blog.com was our host. I do not have any complaints about this amazing operating system, and it is now fused into Apple's MacBook.

Some have different opinions regarding the latest MacBook, but my opinion is that it is the best in the family so far. Apple has switched over to the Intel Core 2 Duo Processors. This makes it extremely efficient in computer procceses. According to Apple.com, "MacBook is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with speeds revving up to 2.2GHz. And all models pack a performance-enhancing 4MB of shared L2 cache."

I am huge on memory. Leopard uses so much less memory than Vista. This is why it is awesome that the notebook can hold up to 4GB. Their website has said the hard drive max storage is set at 250GB. I wonder how much that upgrade will be costing? Nonetheless, computer processing is amazing.

Complimenting Leopard on the MacBook is iLife '08. iLife is an amazing Apple package that includes iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, and iWeb. In '08, entirely new versions of iPhoto & iMovie are included. Apart from Front Row (standard in Leopard), an entertainment/multimedia suite doesn't get better than this. I think it is safe to say Vista just got pwned in this area.

As far as functionality, MacBook has Bluetooth and AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi. For those of you with "limited" knowledge about the AirPort, it is Apple's brand of Wireless LAN. Moment In History: On July 21, 1999 Steve Jobs at the Macworld Expo in NYC revolutionized wireless internet by establishing affordability to the average consumer. It is amazing to see how the AirPort has evolved since that time.

Superficially, the design is what you would expect from an Apple product. The interface looks great, and I don't have any complaints on the keyboard. Black and white designs are offered. The conveniently placed iSight camera on the display bezel allows for iChat, iMovie, and Photo Booth.

Spec Sheet:
  • 13.3-inch glossy display
  • 2.0GHz or 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • Up to 4GB memory
  • Up to 250GB hard drive
  • Apple Remote with Front Row
  • Built-in iSight camera
  • [Revisions coming soon...]
