LG Viewty

LG has just released a new Viewty in purple. More colors will be available this year in addition to black, silver, pink, and the new purple version.

In addition to the 3 inch touch screen, the phone is DivX-certified. That means you can expect high video quality. It pulls through with 120fps recording. Despite being a phone, the video capabilities are amazing:

• 30fps VGA, 262K TFT LCD
• Ultra High speed video capture (120fps)
• DivX Playback (up to VGA 30fps)
• H.264, H.263, MPEG4
• TV out

With the HSDPA 3.6 high speed internet, you can upload videos directly to YouTube which makes life so much easier. It also comes with a very nice 5 megapixel camera. One of the best features in my opinion. Since it's also an mp3 player, the 2GB MicroSD slot is great for listening to your portable tunes as the Viewty only has 100Mb of internal memory. Some other features include Bluetooth 1.2 and a handy jog wheel on the back for scrolling.

Overall, the Viewty seems to be an interesting digital-camera/touchscreen-phone crossbreed. The end product turned out to have quality features with bad storage capacity. Although it does have great resolution for both images and video, how far can you get with only 100MB? The 2GB MicroSD card can hardly compensate. Otherwise, the phone isn't that bad with a new line of colors and the whole YouTube-direct-upload thing.
